IRONMAN Malaysia Experience
The ocean swim starts
from a sandy beach on Legenda Park with a two-loop triangle out to Eagle Point
and back. A two-loop bike course heads out of Kuah town on to an anti-clockwise
loop from the Southeast up around Gunung Raya mountain and into the northwest.
Athletes return to Kuah town for the run: four loops that wind through Legenda
Park, market places and the local stadium before returning to cross the line at
Dataran Lang—where the giant eagle sculpture creates a formidable backdrop for
this already imposing finish line.
RONMAN World Championship Qualifying Race
There are 40
qualifying slots to the 2015 IRONMAN World Championship in Kaliua-Kona, Hawaii.
Testimonials:
Belinda Granger, two-time IRONMAN Malaysia champion
"I did the race
three times, coming second on my first attempt. I absolutely loved the race and
am extremely excited about the return of IRONMAN Malaysia. Getting the
opportunity to race on the island of Langkawi is such a treat. Such an amazing
island rich in culture, spectacular scenery, scrumptious food and wonderful
people. A perfect destination race in my books."
Steve Lumley (GBR) - Head Coach TeamTIME
"It is very
exciting that IRONMAN is coming back to Langkawi. Langkawi is a lovely island
with very friendly and helpful people and a great variety of fairly unique
tourist attractions for people to visit outside the event."
Jaime Vigaray (ESP) – coach and athlete
"I have been
racing IRONMAN all around the world and I can definitely say that IRONMAN Malaysia
was by far my favorite destination. The beauty of the island and the warmth of
its people create such great scenery for a holiday and race trip. I raced
the last two editions and once you cross that finish line there's no doubt you
want to go back. Now with the return of IRONMAN Malaysia I have an excuse to
visit Langkawi Island again!"
